Surfing. The board

The photo shows a couple of senior surfers proudly presenting their boards.

The board to the right is a ULI inflatable board. I started with that board. It is handy if you want to travel by air, or if you want a board with you without having to carry it on the roof rack.

However it is not quite the right board for a learner, even if I must say it is nice and soft when you get hit. Also I had some great rides lying on my belly.

Another great thing is that you can not make damage to nearby swimmers, so the life guard may let you use it in the beach zone for swimmers only.

During the summer a hard board surfer is not welcome on controlled beaches. And that is bad luck if that is where the wave is best.

The board to the left is a Bic 8 feet 4 inch. The biggest I could get. I have been using it more than half a year now.

My toes are overhanging the board in the prone position and I believe I could use a board 10 to 12 feet. .

I am not interested in any big wave surfing, and believe that a bigger board will make me surf smaller waves. Also the pop up is easier and quicker
